T-PLAS all set to return to Bangkok in 2023:
Preparations underway for upcoming edition to be held from 20-23 September
- International Trade Fair for the Plastics and Rubber Industries returns to BITEC next year
- Highlights include Medical Plastics and Plastics Recycling – Towards a circular economy
- Booth space participation is now available
Singapore, 11 October 2022 – After a three-year long hiatus, T-PLAS – The International Trade Fair for the Plastics and Rubber Industries – makes a comeback next year from 20-23 September, presenting a comprehensive business and sourcing platform serving the two synergistic industries. With preparations in full swing a year ahead of the trade fair, space bookings are now open.
The range on show at the dedicated regional platform for the plastics and rubber sectors, T-PLAS 2023 - will include machinery and equipment, raw materials and auxiliaries as well as semi-finished products, technical components, reinforced plastic products, and a full suite of services.
Gernot Ringling, Managing Director, Messe Düsseldorf Asia, said: “T-PLAS has had a long pause, but preparation is in full gear and the 2023 edition promises to be a benchmark event for the industry once again – not only as a dynamic regional marketplace for sourcing, networking and to conduct business, but also as the trade fair of choice for international and domestic businesses to tap into the opportunities in Thailand.”
“We are confident that by next year there will be an even higher and more significant demand for personal exchange and re-orientation on a regional scale. We have already secured a number of key exhibitors for T-PLAS 2023 which is testament to the optimism and confidence of our stakeholders for a re-converging of the plastics and rubber industries and the significance of the Thai and Southeast Asian market, added Ringling.
September 2023 will also be an opportune time for T-PLAS 2023 as it comes on the back of a positive economic landscape post pandemic and as plastics and rubber related industries expect further growth. Thailand’s growing reputation as the leading regional hub for plastics manufacturing coupled with Thailand’s high potential to be a bio-plastics hub within the next ten years due to its abundant raw materials, puts the country on a strong trajectory as the No.1 plastics market of choice by the international business community.
With plastics becoming more indispensable in automotive engineering and with an upward trend towards Electric Vehicles (EV), the Thai government’s goal of having one million EV’s on Thai roads by 2025 bodes well for auto-manufacturers gearing up for EV production. Adding to this, the Thai government is proposing comprehensive investment incentives to attract manufacturers to the country to produce hybrid-EVs, plug-in hybrid EVs and battery-EVs. By the end of this year, a fully electric Mercedes-EQS is expected to roll off a production line in Bangkok, marking another milestone in Thailand's journey from conventional auto-making hub to regional frontrunner in EV production.
T-PLAS 2023’s strategic positioning alongside PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL, the International Packaging and Printing Exhibition for Asia, and CorruTec ASIA 2023, the International Corrugated Technology Exhibition for Asia, will make all three co-located trade exhibitions a one-stop platform serving the entire value chain from plastics, packaging, processing, printing to corrugated technology.
T-PLAS 2023 will also feature and address the current challenges of the plastics and rubber sectors in the region and will put the spotlight on Medical Plastics and Plastics Recycling – Towards a Circular Economy, which is most timely, as Thailand will enter Phase 3 of its 12-year road map (2018-2030) on plastic waste management. Under this phase, reducing and stopping the use of more single-use plastics together with a 100% target of recycled plastics based on the application of circular economy principles, will be a key focus (Plastic Waste Management in Thailand, February 2022 – Ministry of Commerce, Thailand).
In the spotlight:
Knowledge-sharing and product innovations are integral to T-PLAS, especially with the plastic and rubber industries experiencing remarkable shifts in emphasis and relevance. Collaborating with supporting associations, industry partners and exhibitors, T-PLAS will shine the spotlight on Medical Plastics and Plastic Recycling across the 4-day event.
- The Medical Plastics Zone is a sector-specific zone focusing on plastics materials and new medical grade materials, processes and technology advances for medical devices and diagnostics in the healthcare industries. From specialty polymers for biocompatible medical implants, biomaterials for medical devices, thermoplastic elastomers for tubes, etc, this zone reflects the growing relevance of plastics and how it is fast becoming a critical part of medical devices and medical engineering.
It is anticipated that by 2030, the global medical plastics market will reach US$88.4 billion driven primarily by the increasing demand for existing and new medical technologies, an ageing population, and the overall growth in medical device applications.
- Plastics Recycling – Towards a Circular Economy
With plastics recycling evolving rapidly from a niche to a trend, driven by legislative targets for plastics recycling that many countries around the world have enacted – increasingly the circular economy is playing a very central role. A key feature at T-PLAS 2023 is a focus on plastics recycling and sustainability – a platform where visitors can connect with plastic processors, buyers and sellers of recycled resin, equipment suppliers and other potential business partners.
The last edition of T-PLAS was held in 2019 where 138 exhibitors from 15 countries, including five national pavilions and country groups, attracted close to 9,000 trade visitors from 60 countries.
